Karen and the Sick Artist
Once upon a time I got very very sick and was in bed for days. I could barely eat and mostly just slept. I had started talking to a potential new business lead whose real name really is Karen. She does a lot of work for boutiques. And changing either of those things would ruin the story a little. I woke up after days of agony after telling this woman I wasn’t feeling good to a long diatribe of messages. She told me in a variety of colorful ways that I don’t take my business seriously enough for her and she’s better at her job because I wasn’t available to text her. Keep in mind, she didn’t hire me. I didn’t have any impending deliverables for her. She didn’t put in a single order or send me a penny. Nonetheless, I should take her texts and immediately respond at the drop of the hat to every question. Dodged a bullet there.
